Happy Wednesday everyone, I hope you all are having a nice easy week so far. Weather here in Colorado has been all over the place–crazy warm one day and frigid the next! It’s nothing we’re not used to, but it still makes it difficult to make plans. We are supposed to have a chilly next couple of days so this weekend we plan on curling up and watching a lot of movies and will maybe bundle up for a quick zoo trip to get out of the house for a bit. We shall see!
Last week I began installing board and batten to the walls in the front room and worked on it almost every day until I finished up yesterday. It was a lot of work and my hands are sooo dry and cracked, but it feels great to finally cross this project off the list ๐
I’m super excited to share how it turned out with you guys today, but first let’s start with some before photos. Here is what the room looked like when we first purchased the house.
Over the last two years we’ve painted the walls and installed hardwoord flooring and this is how it looked at the beginning of last week.
Much better than day one, but I’ve always envisioned board and batten in here to really complete the room. That dream has finally come to life and here it is today!
Such a beautiful difference, right?! Because of the valuted ceilings in this space the walls are very tall so I love how the board and batten breaks that up.
I’m sort of torn on if the mirror behind the couch needs to be lowered or not. I plan to live with it for a few weeks to decide.
Oh quick sidenote–aren’t these new pillow covers that I got from Amazon (link here) pretty? I love the soft gray color and the linen texture. They are currently only 16 bucks for a two pack!
We had to add a piece of scrap wood as a spacer to the back of my DIY faux tin tile wall art so that it could hang properly.
The bay window area was the trickiest because there were soooo many angles to work around. It took me almost the entire weekend just to complete this little space!
I added craftsman style trim around the windows which makes them look so much classier.
I started on the walls next to the front door on Monday and since there weren’t too many obstacles they went fairly quickly.
You may recall that we used to have rounded steps that extended out over to the wall next to the coat closet.
While we were installing the hardwood floors we chopped those down and patched up the drywall and kept it mostly hidden with this bench.
Here is how that wall looks now!
We still need to build the side to cover up the staircase, but it’s so nice to see the wall finally looking finished.
I recently got this gorgeous gray jute rug (link here) from the Hearth and Hand line at Target and I love how cozy it makes this corner.
I’ll 100% admit that it wasn’t easy, but I’m so happy with the results. Have a happy rest of the week my friends!

What a nice change! I’d love to add board and batten in my dining room. My husband is not as keen, but I think I can talk him round, hahaha.

The transformation of this room is remarkable. Love the look of the board and batten and how you carried it around the entry too. Gorgeous! Look for your post to be featured this week at the Tuesday Turn About Link Party.
