Pretty Organization Under the Kitchen Sink

April 14, 2021

Hello friends! I’m sorry about the radio silence, last week was a really off week for me. I was in a funk and had a really hard time getting motivated to do much of anything. I’m sure some of you can relate and understand that feeling and know that it’s not a fun place to be. By the time the weekend arrived I had decided that a project was in order so I decided to tackle something that’s been bothering me for awhile–the cabinets under the kitchen sink.

We had a couple of plastic bins to corral the chaos, but it was always so difficult to find things and of course wasn’t pretty–I wanted pretty! Inspired by posts that I’ve seen on Instagram lately I decided to come up with something better. So I tore everything out…

Laid some adhesive shelf liner down,

And came up with an all new organization system!

MUCH better, wouldn’t you agree?

I started with these neat plastic shoe drawers from the Container store.

Having drawers makes it so much easier to grab what you need as opposed to rustling around in big bins. On the left we have soap pods, magic erasers and sponges.

And on the right we have trash bags. I would have liked to add a second drawer on this side but the P-trap hangs down just barely too low for one more to fit.

To make the most use out of the space I added an acrylic tray on top to hold dish rags.

Next I wanted to do something about all of our mis-matched spray bottles. I found this set of 6 amber plastic spray bottles on Amazon for only $7 bucks and decided that they would be perfect.

I poured all of our cleaning solutions in to them and then set them inside 2 narrow acrylic bins.

I love how they slide out so that I can easily grab the one that I need.

I love the shelf liner, it not only hides the old worn laminate, it also brightens the whole space up and makes it more cheerful. I actually began with some shelf liner from Dollar Tree as you saw above, but when I spotted this shelf liner at Walmart I decided that I liked it much better so I switched it out haha.

I created the labels on Canva.com and simply printed them out on waterproof vinyl sticker paper and cut them out (the template can be found in my Etsy shop here). The hubby pokes fun at me, but this girl loves her labels haha!

I am so happy with how this little spot turned out. I find such joy in making spaces easier to use and better looking! After I finished here, I was so inspired that I moved to our laundry room shelves and decided to get those more in order as well. I will be back to share those next week 🙂

Oh and in case anyone noticed, yes our garbage disposal went from having burgundy accents to black thanks to my work with a Sharpie. The hubby thought that it was absolutely hilarious that I felt the need to do that! You can kind of tell with the photo editing, but in real life you would never know 😉
