Hey guys, happy July! The month of June slipped away so quickly that I didn’t even get a chance to a post about our 3 year home anniversary. The past two years I’ve enjoyed looking back at the previous year to see how much we have accomplished on our fixer upper. It’s always fun to see the transformation and is a nice motivator to keep pushing forward. So I may be a little late, but I definitley didn’t want to skip this year!
With the pandemic of 2020 we found ourselves spending much more time at home and ended up getting a lot more got accomplished than I think we would have otherwise. For the first time in 3 years I can truly say that I am happy with where our house is at. There are a still a few things left on the list, but overall the house finally feels like “us”
1. Exterior

The only major change to the exterior this year was that I ripped out the juniper bushes. Those things were such an eyesore and they have bugged me from the very beginning. I had planned on hiring the job out, but one day I got the urge to start on it myself just to see how bad it was. Even though it was TOUGH I decided to just keep going and finally after two whole long days and 20 trash bags later I took us from this…
To this!
It was such a breath of fresh air having those things out. As you saw in the picture above I planted a few Euonymus Manhattan bushes in their place and so far they are doing pretty well. I still want to build a window box for the bay window to fill with flowers during the warm months and some seasonal evergreen branches during the winter.

It’s come quite a long way from the very beginning, but it’s also changed a bit over the past year. I finally installed the board and batten all the way around the room and we also got a few pieces of new (to us) furniture. We got an armoire that opens up and turns into my work from home desk and also a bench for the bay window. I also flipped a coffee table that fits this room better than the trunk did.
Oh and we also finally finished the stairs! It was a more difficult task than we expected it to be, but the final result made it all worth it.
Kitchen

The kitchen is relatively the same since its makeover that I completed in the Fall of 2019 but I had to include it because I just love seeing how much this view has changed!
Living Room

Today
The living room looks very different than it did originally thanks to some paint and decor, however I want to do a full makeover on this space this fall. Here are a couple more fun comparison views from this space:

Playroom

In the spring of 2019 I completed a full room makeover on this space. Since my Dad’s passing last fall my Mom has been staying with us often so we purchased this twin sofa sleeper. It’s actually quite comfortable for the price and makes this space more multi functional.
Upstairs Hallway
Before
Today
We installed hardwood floors and board and batten during the playroom makeover in the spring, but then stopped. Last summer I finally started tackling the rest of the upstairs, starting with the hallway.
And since that made the shiny orange wood doors stand out even more, I replaced all of them with new 2 panel slab doors. oil rubbed bronze knobs and craftsman trim.

I also gave the linen closet a makeover with a new organization system and a pretty new french bi-fold door.
Kid’s Bathroom

Today
Last fall I gave the kids bathroom a makeover and am so happy with how it turned out. I wanted it to be fun yet neutral and I think I achieved just that.
Master Bedroom

After finishing the hardwood floors in the hallway I moved in to our room. I’ve always dreamed of having hardwoods in my room and it felt like a dream come true once they were finished!
I didn’t grab a picture of the other side of the room when we first moved in, but here is what it looked like after 1 year compared to today:
I would like to build another barn door for the closet, but other than that our room is complete.
Tristan’s Room
Before
Today
Last week I shared the reveal for Tristan’s room makeover and he’s over the moon with his new space.
I was sad to see the dinosaur theme go away but that’s just part of being a Mama!
Lucas’ Room
Before
Today
Although the bamboo flooring in Lucas’ room was nice, I wanted all of the floors upstairs to match so I ripped it up and salvaged it the best I could so that I could give them to a new owner to use. Now that Tristan has a new room theme Lucas is set on getting new one for his as well. He wants to do a superhero theme so that may be in the works for this next year!
I am so happy that you guys could join me today. I hope you all have a wonderful and safe 4th of July weekend and I’ll see you all back here next week 🙂

What a lovely transformation throughout your home!! I love all the changes and the flooring is light and perfect. I’ve been thinking about what kind of flooring we could do in our Texas home (we used to be in California) and I like the lighter color. Brightens everything up! Have fun redoing your one son’s bedroom!! Working on my kids’ bedrooms throughout the years is a great memory for me. We had Skull Island on my son’s bedroom wall by his bed in a Pirate’s Theme when he was a tween.
Enjoy your week, and yes 4th of July was busy but fun,
Hugs,
Barb 🙂

I LOVE this post! What fun to see so many transformations! It’s good both to see how much progress can be made pretty quickly AND to see that it can happen fairly quickly but NOT overnight. I think many people will be really encouraged by seeing what you’ve done in three years.
Thanks so much for joining the Grace at Home party at Imparting Grace. I’m featuring you this week!
