Hello friends! I hope you all had a nice first week of 2022. Are you keeping up on any resolutions? I’ll be honest I totally didn’t even start on mine until this week, but I’m happy to report that it’s been good so far!
Last week I packed away all of the Christmas decor and I find that as sad as it is to put it all away, it’s also sort of a nice to make the house feel a little more open again. As always, I kept a few things out that could be considered “wintery” for these next couple months to keep it feeling cozy in here. I also brought out my little stash of Valentine’s items and even though the hubby told me it’s way too early to decorate for Valentines–I of course disagree!
I took a few pictures so that I could share the traditional home tour with you all so let’s get started!
The front room is always my favorite room to decorate. The entry table is such a focal point so I like to fill it up with as many seasonal and cheerful items as I can.
This year I kept the basket of logs (just removed the Christmas scarf), added my DIY Valentine’s Day Art, an xoxo candle and a “love you more” sign. I also kept the lantern and replaced the ornaments that were inside with a snowy tree.
While I do miss our big tree in the bay window, I also enjoy the simplicity of having our bench back in its place.
The DIY Valentine’s Day Pillow that I made a couple of years ago is still one of my favorite things to bring out and looks so cute sitting on this bench.
I put a few things on top of my desk armoire, and I also hung up my silver heart garland across the mirror.
I scored a new coffee table tray from the Hobby Lobby clearance aisle and I filled it with greenery, a candle, and few small Valentine’s trinkets.
On the small wall next to the stairs, I kept it identical to how it was for Christmas since it was all neutral and the greenery and hanging pinecone wreath cozy this space up so much.
On the other side of the stairs, I restyled the top of the cabinet a bit. I set the old corbel there as sort of an afterthought to fill the space and now I’m kind of obsessed with it.
In the kitchen I never do much seasonal decorating, but I took down what I did have up for Christmas and only left a small tree on the counter and the hot cocoa station on the island.
We always keep our hot cocoa station up through February so that we can enjoy it on cold snowy days.
I switched out the Christmas kisses for conversation hearts and set this super cute xoxo sign in front of the tray. Can you believe that it’s actually from the Dollar Tree?!
Sidenote–I felt a slight twinge of failure when I realized that the boys had never seen conversation hearts in their lives! I’m glad that I’m finally introducing them because they have been having a blast reading all of the messages (and sneaking them when we aren’t looking…)
I replaced our Christmas runner on the dining room table with a black and white one but left the dough bowl. I took out the jingle bells and put some wooden snowflakes in their place.
I kept the console table on this wall very similar to the Christmas set up, but I switched out the pillows on the bottom and covered the bases of the wall sconce mini trees with neutral fabric.
Let’s finish up with the living room.
The back corner felt so empty when the tree first came down!
But it also felt more spacious. I kept the garland on the mantel but removed the lights, bells and ribbon. I draped my Romeo & Juliet Inspired Valentine’s Day Garland on top to dress it up a little.
I also kept the lanterns in place along with the greenery that I attached to them and made them less Christmassy by removing the red twine and replacing it with brown.
I also didn’t have to do much work to the wall with the chairs however I did switch out the photos. A couple of the frames were empty when I snapped these photos, but they are all now full of our fun winter memories.
And finally, the coffee table tray also stayed relatively unchanged since I just removed the bells. Can you tell that I was feeling a bit lazy this year?
We spend many cold winter days and nights snuggled up in this cozy space!
I hope you enjoyed this year’s tour and that it gave you a few ideas to create coziness in your home! Have a happy rest of the week 🙂
