One thing my son hates is being woken up in the morning. He is very much like his Daddy in that sense! But I have to get up suuuuuuuper early for work, so when I come into his room it’s still dark out. I used to flip the overhead light on and the poor little guy would just scream and scream at me with squinty little eyes. It was heartbreaking!
So I decided that a dim lamp would be a good idea so that I could gently wake him up and still be able to see while dressing him. I had this cute little lamp from my college dorm days but it definitely needed to be boy-fied for my little man.
This is a super simple project. Using a new piece of material, I folded down the edges, wrapped it around the shade and secured the seam with a hot glue gun. I then put a couple coats of white paint on the base and voila!
I then took some scrapbook paper and lined the inside of the shade to make it more fun.
Buuuuut, I ended up not being satisfied with the fabric. I’m difficult like that. Luckily with my Joann’s mobile coupon it was only about a $1.25.
So I picked out some pretty chevron fabric and also decided to add some fun polka dot ribbon trim.
And now I couldn’t be happier!
I love it now! It matches his room perfectly.
Months after moving in, I’m almost done with his room! I just have a few things to finish up and then I’ll be ready to share it on the Home Tour page. Stay tuned!
