Hi guys! So we’re officially at the half point of the One Room Challenge and as usual it feels like it has arrived oh so quickly!
In case you missed the first two weeks you can catch up here:
One Room Challenge (1): Woodland Big Boy Room Plans
One Room Challenge (Week 2): A VERY Slow Start
Last week you may recall that I was feeling pretty behind. However I am happy to report that within the last week I have made some major progress and I finally feel like things are starting to move along!
So many updates…where do I even start? Oh, how about the bed!
On Monday I shared how I gave a trundle bed that we found for $50 a new look by painting it light gray (tutorial here).
It turned out even more beautiful than I had imagined and the Woodland Bedding Set that I chose goes with the new color perfectly.
It really set the tone for the entire room and makes me really excited to start adding some accessories.
But before I can start that, I need to get the new dresser in. I found this guy for just $20 on Facebook Marketplace.
It’s the perfect size and I think the lines in the drawers are such a fun detail. I’m almost done with it and I can’t wait to show off its new look with you guys next week!
Since I managed to spend a grand total of only $70 on new furniture I had plenty left over in the budget for other stuff. Like this toy box!
I still need to make the cushion for it. I already have the foam and the fabric but have been seriously procrastinating since I’ve never actually sewn a bench cushion before. I’m just a tad bit nervous about it. Fingers crossed that it turns out alright!
The art that I have sitting on top will be hung up on the wall above the toy box as soon as I’ve patched the holes that are left over from the shelves that once hung there.
The new rug also arrived and it’s a little bigger than I expected so I’m still playing around with placement.
I also made a really cute piece of wall decor out of this Goodwill find but you’ll have to wait for the Thrift Store Challenge next week to see how it turned out.
And finally I’ve started on the bed tent canopy. My inspiration is this one pictured with this bed from RH Baby & Child.
Isn’t it awesome? I’ve already run into a couple of problems which was to be expected since my sewing skills are pretty lame! I’m trying to be patient with myself and hopefully it ends up being at least half as cute as the inspiration photo.
Ok my friends I think that’s it for today but before I go let’s take a quick peek back at how this room looked at the beginning of the challenge…
compared to where we are at today!
Not too much of a difference and I still have a ways to go, but it’s definitely starting to come along.
Be sure to swing over and check out the other participants’ progress here. See you all next week!

Angela, I really like how this room is coming along! My boy just turned nine, but I have always loved this nature theme. It is very calm, peaceful, and non commercial. I am also amazed how well you can makeover furniture! That bed looks incredible! The change in color completely transforms the bed style. Crazy! I love that wooden tree you found at a thrift store. Yay, for thrift stores. 🙂
