Hello friends and HAPPY SEPTEMBER! I hope you each had a nice long Labor Day weekend. Ours was fantastic–we soaked in as much fun as we possibly could. Between a camping trip, hosting a party, going to a BBQ and one last trip to the pool, I would say it was a major success. 🙂
On Sunday morning after breakfast the hubby and the boys had some lazy time and sat on the couch to watch a movie, so I decided it was the perfect time to go through my subscription box from Simply Earth!
I am so excited to share that the theme for September’s box is…soap!

I was super excited about this one because I’ve always wanted to try making my own soap. I couldn’t wait to get started! In additional to the 4 oils, the box also included aloe glycerin soap base, a soap mold, 6 awesome recipe cards and labels.
Ok let’s start by chatting about the star oils this month.

- Happy Joy is composed of Geranium, Sweet Orange, Grapefruit & Ylang Ylang has a refreshing aroma. It is the perfect blend to brighten and uplift your mood.
- Cajeput is known to aid a ton of different ailments such as the common cold, headaches, toothaches, sore muscles, fever and even skin diseases.
- Lemongrass is a popular oil that purifies, eases nerves and provides mental clarity. Out of all of the oils this one is actually my favorite scent!
- Bay promotes confidence, energizes and uplifts so it’s awesome for mental well being.
Although I was super pumped to be making my own soap, I was also happy to see that they included a few other super useful recipes using these oils!
1. Happy Joy Roll On

You guys, I absolutely love roll ons. I have made all of the ones that they’ve sent so far and I think they’re all ahhh-mazing. This month’s Happy Joy one smells so fresh and…happy haha! Simply roll it on your pulse points and it immediately brightens your mood. Something I think most of us can benefit from!
2. Flowers and Spice Diffuser Blend

I think that this blend is perfect for September as we transition from summer to fall because the sweet floral reminds me of summer but the cozy spice hints at upcoming fall. They blend together to combine the best of both worlds!
3. Lemongrass, Cajeput and Bay Compress

This homemade compress is excellent for pain, fever and cramps. I’ve actually started to come down with a nasty cold today, so as I’m writing this I am planning on whipping one of these up as soon as I get home!
4. Happy Joy Facial Soap

Here it is–my first ever handmade soap! This is the best smelling facial soap and it totally awakens the senses!
I don’t have a double broiler so I used the microwave method and I was surprised at how easy it was. After heating up the glycerine soap base that they included, I mixed in the oil and then immediately poured in the mold.

I let it sit in the fridge for a few minutes to cool and then popped it out.
5. Flowers, Spice and Something Nice Soap

This one smells amazing too and I thought it was fun to place a couple of little dried flowers inside of it. Unfortunately I didn’t push them through quite deep enough so they aren’t super visible from the front. Still turned out super cute though!
6. Sugar Scrub Soap Bar

This one smells good enough to eat–but please refrain from doing so! I love that it’s less messy than a traditional sugar scrub. It scrubs away dry flaky skin and leaves it smooth and sweet smelling!
Since all of the oils that were used this month are not safe for kiddos under 10 these soaps found a home in the soap bowl that I keep on a shelf in our master bathroom. For Mommy and Daddy use only!!

Don’t forget, Simply Earth offers a wonderful deal to all of my lovely readers! If you use the promo code: SBBANGELAFREE on a subscription order you will receive a $40 gift card with your first box which also includes a Big Bonus Box. This is where you will get all of those extras like bottles, rollers, almond oil etc.). It’s an amazing deal and I’m so happy to partner with such a generous company.
Thanks for swinging by today friends! Have a great (short) week, I’ll be back next week with a couple of fall Dollar Tree DIYS to share with you. See you then!
