Hello my sweet friends! I hope you are doing well in your corner of the world. Some days are better than others for us, but for the most part we are maintaining a pretty positive attitude and are trying to embrace the opportunity to be spending more time together.
To help keep my anxiety from flying high I’ve been trying to immerse myself in house projects. From cleaning, to organizing to decorating–I’m finding that it really helps keep my mind occupied and uplifted! This past weekend I even got in the playroom and started ripping out the carpet, which leads me to some exciting news to share today. We are finally starting the playroom makeover!
When we first moved in to the house the empty spaced looked like this.
Nearly two years later this is what the room looked like as of last weekend.
Well…on a good day. Most of the time the toys are thrown throughout the room and it drives me absolutely batty.
I’ve been looking forward to doing this room since the day we first looked at this house and I’m so excited to finally get started on it. Here is a mood board I created to help me visualize what I want this space to look like.
It should come as no surprise to you guys that I want to have mainly neutral colors. I plan keep a few of their toys out on the shelves for small pops of color, but for the most part I want this space to be calm and serene and I think the neutral color pallet will really help me achieve that.
I’m hoping to repair the tear on their teepee. I also want to put either a rug or a cushion inside there since the blanket never stays put and it drives me crazy to looking at it as I walk by the hallway.
The carpet is going and we are installing the same hardwood floors that we have on the main level. I also plan on installing craftsman trim around the window and the old blinds will be replaced with the same bamboo shades that we have in the other rooms.
The T.V. is coming down. Tristan broke it a few weeks ago and we don’t trust them not to break a new one, so we’ve decided that they will have to play their video games downstairs from now on. I’ll be installing board and batten along this wall and placing the bench in the middle. To the left I want to put some more storage cubbies since you can’t ever have enough storage in a playroom!
The kitchen is staying and the market is getting a little makeover. Then I plan to move the table to the middle of the room–after it gets a makeover as well.
And finally, I have big plans for the built ins! I am going to be painting the back a warm gray and the shelves and trim will be white. I also want to style the bins a little differently.
I can’t wait to share my progress with you guys in the coming weeks!
