Curbside Chest of Drawers Makeover

August 4, 2022

Hey there, happy Thursday! Hope your week has been treating you well. Mine started off sort of rocky, but luckily it improved and overall I think it has been a pretty good week! This weekend the boys test for their Taekwodo green belts and then we are headed back to the Renaissance festival just the two of us while the boys hang out with their Grandmas. It should be a lot of fun and we are really looking forward to it!

Today’s curbside find that I’m sharing turned out so great that I actually decided to keep it for myself. It’s quite funny that I decided to do that because I had zero intentions of doing so when I first started out!

Okay, here it is:

Pretty unique looking, right? In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything quite like it before. The curved lines along the bottom and top, plus the shaped drawers made this a one of kind find!

Supplies Used:(Affiliate links may be provided for convenience.  For more info, see my full disclosure here.)

  • Sander
  • Paint Sprayer
  • Satin Paint (BM Pashmina)
  • White Wax
  • Farmhouse Black Spray Paint
  • Ultra Flat Polyacrylic

I had a feeling that this was not made out of real wood because of its light weight and texture, but I decided to try out the sander on one of the drawers to see if I could leave the drawers natural. I quickly realized that it was MDF, so on to plan B! I went over everything with the Sander to scuff sand it up and prep it for paint.

When I got to the legs, I found a nice surprise–they were made out of a really pretty wood!

I took them off to make them easier to sand all the way down to the raw wood. I the went over each one with some White Wax to lighten them just slightly.

I used my Paint Sprayer to paint the outside with Benjamin Moore Pashmina that I had left over from the cabinets. I am truly obsessed with this color and want to paint all of the things in this color!

I decided that I wanted to do something a little fun, so instead of painting the drawers the same color, I lightened what I had left in the sprayer with some white paint.

Since I loved the existing knobs, I simply painted them with some Farmhouse Black Spray Paint. I finished it all up with two coats of Ultra Flat Polyacrylic and here is how it turned out!

I love how beautiful the legs turned out and am so happy that they were made out of such nice wood.

The curvature on the bottom is so flattering—so fun and unique!

I was so excited to find out that it fit perfectly in this little corner next to the stairs.

What are we going to keep in it? I have absolutely no idea haha! But I’m sure that we will figure something out.

I hope you guys have a wonderful weekend; I will be back next week to share a fun tutorial. Here’s a hint–it has to do with our recent kitchen refresh!
