Happy Friday friends! As promised I’m back to share the makeover of the twin dresser. In case you missed it, earlier this week I shared how I turned this old dresser into a faux card catalog (post linked here)

The twin had been painted and I knew that I wanted the top of this one also to be all wood, so I applied Citristrip to start removing it.

While that was sitting I started scuff sanding the drawers. I focused on the edges since I knew that the faces were going to be covered up.

I went back to the base to start scraping and used mineral spirits and steel wool to remove the residue.

I used my sander to get what the scraping didn’t.

Although the other one was pretty good condition, this one had a bit more problem areas that needed to be repaired. I first had to secure a couple of 2x4s to fix the sagging top.

I also had quite a bit of Bondo repair to do throughout, especially along the bottom. Once that was all done I scuff sanded the entire thing to prep it for primer.

Before applying the primer, I added a piece of hardboard to the front of each one to cover the handle holes. I measured them out so that my trim that would later be added to the edges would sit in a good spot. I secured them with wood glue and my nail gun.

I filled the nail holes with spackle so that they wouldn’t be visible through the burlap, then sprayed a coat of primer.

I sprayed two coats of paint, then pulled the drawers out and started adding white burlap using Modge Podge and a staple gun.

I trimmed off the excess using then began attaching trim (that I had also previously painted with the sprayer) using my nail gun.

The hubby and I used the Kreg Jig, a 2×2 and a 1×3 to build a custom base.

I stained the base and the top with my new favorite stain, then sealed it all up with polyacrylic.

I feel like the color of the stain paired so nicely with the paint. Unfortunately, I can’t give you a color name since I mixed it up using what I had on hand! It’s primarily Behr Wheat Bread.

The burlap added such a cool texture and the pretty brass pulls stand out beautifully against it.

Although both dressers ended up with completely different looks, I honestly can’t choose a favorite–can you?

Have a happy weekend, I’ll catch up with you guys next week!
