I’ve had this white nightstand since I was little. It’s not real wood and it’s taken a real beating over the years.
It’s just been stashed it in my step daughters closet to use as storage.
Here are the battle scars…
Yeh–not so pretty!
I decided that a nightstand would help dress the room up a little so one lazy afternoon I decided to throw a quick coat of paint on it.
The first coat of white eggshell covered all of the imperfections right up, like they were never even there.
I added a second coat, and just like that it was new piece of furniture!
I wanted to girly it up a little so I decided to paint the drawer a light pink.
I first tried mixing some acrylic paint that I had laying around with some of the white.
But I learned that it didn’t like the laminate surface. Like at all!
With too many brush strokes it would just peel right off!
So I just used some of the wall paint that I had left over.
I was worried that it would look too matchy-matchy being the same color as the wall, but it’s actually the perfect subtle pink that I had originally had in mind. Plus the knob kind of pulls your attention away.
I got the knob from Hobby Lobby. They have the most interesting knobs and I’ve been dying for an excuse to shop this aisle!
(P.S. they put them on sale for 50% off pretty often, but if you go during a time that they aren’t on sale, you can always use a 40% off coupon on your phone!)
I love how it says “princess” without being over the top.
Here is her room before the nightstand:
And now!
The dark brown stool is the next piece in desperate need of a makeover. Stay tuned for that 🙂
This was a super easy project, it probably took a total of 30 minutes to complete–small projects like these are always fun!
Do you have anything that has just been laying around forever that could be spruced up?
You may be suprised how much of a difference a quick coat of paint can make on something!
Linking up to these awesome parties!
