Lucas’ Teddy Bear Picnic Birthday Party

January 13, 2017

Hello and happy Friday!
Last week my little Lucas turned 1 year old and it was so bittersweet. Although I am enjoying seeing him grow to be such a loving and goofy little character, I am super sad to see the baby days coming to an end.  Even more so since we decided that he is our last baby.
We spent his actual birthday visiting the aquarium and on Saturday we ignored the chilly weather and threw him an indoor teddy bear picnic!
As guests walked in they were greeted with our entry table that had the poem from the book on display.

I also placed the favors here which were teddy graham s’more kits.

I pinned up some of his newborn clothes on a piece of yarn along the banister.  I did this for Tristan’s first birthday as well and I think I may have even used some of the same clothes.

For his high chair I made a ribbon banner along with a pennant banner that spelled “one”

Above the high chair I made another pennant banner that said “I Am One”

Now lets talk about the food!
I had a really hard time trying to figure out how I wanted to style the table since it was so small.  I ended up using some crates from Hobby Lobby and small silver platters from the dollar store.

The delicious mini sandwiches were courtesy of my hubby who stayed up late putting them together the night before while I worked on everything else.  He’s such a trooper!

And you can’t have a picnic without chips!  I set out small individual bags for people to choose from.  I also kept the condiments for the sandwiches on this cute cake stand that I found at the Target Dollar Spot.

I asked my mom to make her wonderful potato salad (even though she thought it was a strange request for the middle of the winter) and we also had fresh strawberries and blueberries in berry baskets.

Above the table I hung some fun fans and lanterns.  I also ordered a cheapo fake grass rug from Walmart and it really helped set the “picnic” theme since we were indoors.

For the drinks we had lemonade and coke.

This teddy bear’s name is Fuzzy Wuzzy.  My grandpa got it from a train station for my mom when she was around 5 years old.  I was so glad I was able to incorporate such a sentimental piece in this party and he looked quite happy perched on this tree slice that held the cups and straws.

I had purchased this Ferris wheel cupcake stand for Tristan’s first birthday (which was a carnival theme) so I thought it would be the perfect place to put these teddy graham cupcakes.

I made a bee hive by hot gluing printouts of bumblebees to a yellow paper lantern and hung it above the drink station.

You may have noticed that all of the teddy bears in attendance had festive party hats on.  I made them out of cardstock with a template that I found online and the pom-poms were a simple DIY using a fork and some yarn.

The cake was from King Soopers and was originally a Strawberry Shortcake design but I had them “boy” it up by making it red and blue instead of pink, and of course I left little miss Shortcake off and put a teddy bear printout on instead.

Lucas had his very own little cake to smash…

which he enjoyed quite a lot!

The shirt that I ordered on Esty turned out super cute!  A huge thank you to Stephanie from Little Chickies’. She was great to work with and was able to customize it to exactly what I was looking for.

The whole party couldn’t have gone any better, everyone had so much fun and we created memories to treasure for years to come.

(Don’t mind the hubby’s Call of Duty shirt–he didn’t get the memo that he was probably going to be in pictures haha)

I hope you all have a wonderful three day weekend, I will be back next week!
