Happy October my sweet friends! Is it starting to feel like fall where you’re at yet? Here in Colorado the month of September was scorching hot most days and I felt strange with all of my pumpkins that I decorated with. However today we woke up to cold, wet rain and all I want to do is curl up under a thick throw on the couch with a pumpkin spice latte in my hands!
I actually went to Homegoods a couple of weeks ago and loaded up my cart with a bunch of fall candles and can’t wait to go home and burn one tonight. Although I am a spring and summer girl, I do enjoying creating coziness inside on those first few chilly fall days.
Speaking of candles, this month’s essential oil recipe box from Simply Earth couldn’t have nailed a more seasonally fitting theme!

After how much I enjoyed making my own soap in September’s box, I knew that I was going to love making my own candles too. There were a couple of other fun recipes that came in this month’s box and I’m so excited to share them with you guys!
But first let’s talk about the oils. As always they included 4 full sized oils in the box:

- Cassia–this oil is related to cinnamon which is quite obvious when you smell it! It’s able to reduce nausea and support a healthy immune system. It’s also known to nourish hair and skin and is wonderful at killing germs.
- Orange–this sweet smelling citrus oil is so uplifting and has a wide variety of uses such as improving mood, degreasing, easing sore muscles and aiding digestion.
- Balsam Fir–this one is known to sooth joint pain among several other uses such as relieving respiratory issues, balancing emotions and may even relieve hiccups!
- Focus–this blend is comprised of Cardamom, Frankincense, Eucalyptus, and Sweet Orange and is designed to improve mental clarity and boost your creativity.
Ok now let’s chat a little bit about the recipes.
1. Joint Pain Roll On

Their roll on recipes never disappoint, and this one was no exception. Even though I am fortunate enough to not have much joint pain, my mom and the hubby suffer from it pretty bad. They both said that they noticed quite a bit of relief when they put this on. The healing powers that essential oils are able to provide always amazes me!
2. Fall Diffuser Blend

This sweet cozy blend really warms up the home and makes is smell like a crisp autumn day.
3. DIY Aromatherapy Rice Bag

I just recently tried my very first rice bag last year after a torn muscle in my neck and I remember that I was so shocked at how much it actually helped! The orange and the oils in the Focus blend really amp it up from just a standard rice bag and provide a much needed uplifting and soothing feeling.
4. Focus Lip Balm

Anyone else as addicted to chapstick as I am?! It’s true, I probably apply it at least ten times a day and can’t go more than a couple of hours without it. It’s so bad that if I happen to end up out for the day without one I’ll stop at a gas station to buy one. It’s serious! Anyways, I really enjoyed making this one and the fact that it helps me focus makes it the perfect one to keep at work.
5. Cassia & Balsam Fir Candle

And now for the real fun–the candles! Everything you need is provided within the box and the Big Bonus Box (I’ll get to that in a second!), all you need is a container of your choice! The recipe calls for a double broiler, but since we don’t have one I simply put it all in a glass bowl and popped it in the microwave, checking it every 30 seconds until it melted. This one was very woodsy smelling and and made our home smell sooo warm and cozy!
6. Cassia & Orange Candle

I had a hard time deciding which one of these scents that I liked the best, but if I had to pick I would have to say that this one won out since I absolutely love citrus scents.
