Hey guys, welcome to week 2 of the One Room Challenge! In case you missed last week’s plans for the gamer theme bedroom that I’m creating you can catch that here:
One Room Challenge (Week 1): Gamer Bedroom Plans
As usual, I feel like I am off to a slow start. However it’s not due to lack of motivation, it’s because of this dang weather that we’ve been having here in Colorado! As you may recall, I wanted to start with installing the faux brick wall. I ordered these faux brick wall panels from Home Depot last week and was looking for the perfect day (AKA no rain or snow!) to go pick them up.
Our store was out of stock so I actually ordered from a store that’s about 12 miles away from us. We ventured out on Saturday afternoon and the sun was shining the whole drive out there. However as soon as we loaded them up on the top of my car a random thunderstorm rolled right above us! Murphy’s law I tell you…
Luckily it stopped about halfway home and the wind dried them up pretty well the rest of the way. I used a rag to dry them up all the way once we got them in the garage. They’ve been sitting there ever since because we got rain/snow Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, so sawing them down in the driveway which is where I like to work was not an option. So instead, I decided to get started on the wall paint.
Last week I mentioned that I gave Tristan full reign on choosing the accent wall and he chose Caicos Turquoise by Behr.
I had a quart mixed up and on Monday afternoon my little man and I got to work!
The lighting in that picture is a little off, here’s a better idea of how it looks in real life.
It’s BOLD which is exactly what he wanted and he’s so excited. It’s going to look even better once we get some wall decor up.
On Tuesday, I got started on the other walls and chose Grey Cotton by Behr.
It’s a very warm and neutral gray. As you can probably see, I still need to do some touch up in several spots.
I stopped when I got to the wall that the faux brick will be going on which is the long wall next to the bed.
Since I went with such a warm gray on the walls, I started to wonder what type of gray would look good for the dresser which is in desperate need of a makeover.
I discovered that Wet Cement by Behr appears to be in the same color strip so I started leaning towards that. When I spotted this inspiration picture that used that color on the vanity I was drawn towards it even more.
The walls are actually Greyrock Inn by Glidden which appears to be identical to Cotton Grey by Behr and I think that the combo is perfect.
We are going to be out of town this weekend, but when we get back I’m hoping for some cooperative weather so that I can get started on the brick wall. I’ll see you all back here next week to update you! 🙂
