Hey there friends! Remember waaaaay back in November when I shared the Living Room Makeover, I mentioned that I had ordered a new sectional, but it didn’t arrive in time for the reveal photos? I had all intentions of sharing it shortly after setting it up, but with the holidays I kept putting it off and now here we are 5 months later haha.
This week I finally set up the tripod, snapped some photos and am ready to share it with you all!
There are a lot of features that I absolutely love, but there are also a couple of things that have taken some getting used to. I have a lot to share so without further ado, let’s get to it!
Oh, real quick-this is NOT a sponsored post and they have no idea who I am!
What Drew Me In
After searching through the stores for the perfect new sectional I was really disappointed with the options. I had almost given up hope, but I ran across an ad for Home Reserve and was immediately intrigued. I loved the idea of the removable covers and being able to completely customize the layout to fit our space. Since fabric swatches were only $1, I decided to order a few to check them out!
Fabric Swatches
They have 3 different fabric collections, and the colors I ended up choosing are all in the Easy Living Collection. They are machine washable and stain resistant which is HUGE when you have small children and pets.
These 4 caught my eye the most: Archetype Quartz, Archetype Hemp, Maltese Taupe and Maltese Flax.
Archetype Quartz and Archetype Hemp (top two) have a nice classic linen texture, while Maltese Taupe and Maltese Flax (bottom two) have a softer texture. I kept them in the room for a few days and paid close attention to how they looked during different times of day. After much debate we chose Archetype Quartz (top left) since it was the perfect blend of brown and gray.
Ordering
Ordering was a super simple process, and the customer service team is amazing. I drew out several options with measurements while I was trying to decide on what would work best for us, and I ended up having a couple of questions that I sent in via email. I would always get a response right away and they were very helpful.
The website was also very user friendly, and it was easy to put my order in.
Set Up
Each piece came in a box, and I was a little nervous about how difficult they would be to build. I have had some real struggles with IKEA furniture in the past and was hoping that this wouldn’t be the same. I am happy to report that the instructions were crazy easy to follow, and everything was very clearly labeled. In fact, by the time I got to the third armless piece I had the steps memorized!
It was actually even kind of fun and therapeutic to see it all starting to come together.
How it Looks
Okay now for the part most of you are probably most eager about–how it looks!
On a looks-scale, it gets a 10 out of 10!
When I got all of the pieces built and put together, I stood back to admire it and was nearly breathless at how stunning it looked in this space. Especially since I had been staring at our saggy brown sectional for so many years haha!
It definitely fits the bill for a “pretty couch”
What I Love
Besides the appearance, let’s touch on what else I love. For starters, I enjoyed being able to create our own layout. I almost went for 2 seats on one side and 3 on the other like we had previously, but found that the symmetrical 3/3 worked out great for our space and provides the maximum amount of seating in here for us.
I also liked the fact that they had several different arm styles to choose from. There’s a rounded, square and flat option that I considered; however, I ultimately chose the “Ali” style and couldn’t be happier with the detail of the dramatic slope.
I am smitten with the fact that every piece of fabric, both the cushion covers and the covers for the bases are removeable and can be thrown in the washing machine. The color that we chose doesn’t show dirt easily, so we probably won’t need to do it often, but last week the puppy had a small accident and it was so nice to be able to pop the cover off and quickly wash it out.
I also like how well the cushions hold their form. Both the seats and the backs don’t smoosh down and lose their shape like other couches that we have had and today it looks just as it did 5 months ago.
One of the coolest and unique things I have ever seen–the seats all have storage!
And finally, the fabric is top notch in durablility. Between the dogs with their wildly sharp toenails and the cat that will occasionally do some light scratching when she stretches on it, this fabric hasn’t shown any imperfections. It’s quite shocking to be honest!
What Could Be Better
Okay now for the qualms. The seat depth is pretty narrow, much narrower than our big brown sectional that we had up here before. Honestly it doesn’t bother me much since I feel like it opens the room up more and gives us a little more space in here, however the rest of the family disagrees and misses the depth of the old couch!
The only time I have really missed those wide comfy seats is when I was sick with the flu a couple of weeks ago and my sore muscles were really wanting to sprawl out a bit more. Other than that, I still find it quite comfortable to lay out on a daily basis.
Since this is a modular sectional there are seams between each section as opposed to being one continuous piece. I have solved this by hanging a blanket on the back.
I should mention that this could be avoided if you do a custom order. Their couches and sofas do have one continuous piece of fabric so you could custom order them to remove one arm on either side so that with a corner you can piece them together to make a sectional. I think the cost was slightly higher for a custom order which is why I decided to just go the blanket route haha.
Overall, I am very happy with this sectional despite my family’s desire to have big brown back up here haha! Fortunately for them that has moved to the basement so they can still enjoy it down there.
I hope this has helped for anyone considering ordering from Home Reserve. I don’t think I forgot anything, but if I did feel free to reach out and I would be happy to answer 🙂
