Hey friends, happy Wednesday to you! I had intended to write the tutorial on how I built our kitchen upper cabinet boxes this week, but since I am insanely busy preparing for our trip to New Mexico later this week, I simply just don’t have the time! There are a lot of details that I want to include and it’s going to take a bit more of my attention to get it all put together. So I am going to hold off for now, but I promise it’s coming soon!
Instead of leaving you hanging this week–how about a fun quick furniture flip?
I found this pedestal table the night before our neighborhood large item trash day (one of my favorite days of the year, of course). It had such a beautiful shape, and I knew that it could be easily transformed. So, I grabbed it and hauled it home!
Supplies Used: (Affiliate links may be provided for convenience. For more info, see my full disclosure here.)
- Sander
- Paint Sprayer
- Satin Paint (BM Pashmina, lightend)
- White Wax
- Dark Wax
- Ultra Flat Polyacrylic
Although the rich stain was pretty, I had an entirely different vision for it, so I used my Sander to sand the top all the way down to the raw wood.
The dark stain was extremely stubborn, and it took quite a bit of elbow grease to get rid of all of it! Even after I thought I was good, I would find traces of it once I wiped away the dust.
Finally, once I got it all the way down to raw wood, I scuff sanded everything else to prep it for paint. I sprayed a couple of light even coats on both the base and the rim of the top. I decided to remove the top to not only make painting the base easier, but also so that I only had to tape off the edges.
Once it was all dry, I reattached the top and treated it with my favorite combo of white wax followed by dark wax. I sealed it up with Ultra Flat Polyacrylic to protect it.
Here is how it turned out!
The combination of the warm taupe paint and the light warm wood is so perfect and makes it seem like this table should have always looked this way!
It’s sort of a unique size but would be perfect as a little bistro table in a eat in kitchen area or used as a table in a large foyer area. Of course, I have neither so I’m going to be listing it to sell.
Thank you so much for swinging by today! I hope you all have a beautiful rest of your week and I’ll be back next week 🙂
