Can you believe that 2022 is almost over? I surely can’t! The year seemed to buzz by in the blink of an eye and it feels strange to reflect back on a year that feels like it only lasted a couple of months!
As usual, it seems like we took full advantage of our Amazon Prime benefit this year and found a lot of really useful things for our home. So to wrap this year up, I thought that it would be fun to share my favorite finds this year.
So get ready and grab a cup of coffee–there are a quite a few!
1. Dinner Bell
The dinner bell has been such a success over here! No matter where the boys are in the house they can hear me ring the bell and know that it’s time to come eat. Everyone that comes over is quite amused by it as well haha. It’s tucked on the side wall next to the fridge.
2. Bamboo Food Bag Storage
When I spotted this bamboo food bag storage set I wondered where this had been all of my adult life! I was tired of having multiple cardboard boxes in the drawer that would always seem to slide around and get stuck when I would try to open the drawer. This has been super helpful at keeping everything in order and it makes the drawer look pretty too.
T3. Rattan Tissue Box Cover
I have seen tissue box covers before, we even owned a metal one but the paint was quick to peel off of it. I wanted to start keeping tissues in the powder room but didn’t want to stare at a box, so I decided to check out what Amazon had and I was not disappointed. This rattan tissue box cover is so pretty and is such a nice addition to our powder room shelves.
4. LED Lighting Strips
When I planned out building the upper cabinet boxes I knew that I wanted to add some lighting inside, I just wasn’t sure how. I found these LED lighting strips for a mere $15 and decided to give them a shot. I absolutely love how they turned out and the fact that I can change the brightness with the dimmer has been wonderful.
5. Metal Shelf Brackets
I’ve always dreamed of having shelving on the side kitchen wall and it took a lot of searching to find the perfect brackets. These ones were the ultimate winner since I loved the design and the dimensions were perfect. The quality is amazing and it’s hard to believe they were so inexpensive!
6. Patterned Serving Bowl
Of course with new kitchen shelving, I needed pretty things to display! I have a deep love for black and white decor, so naturally I was smitten when I found this patterned serving bowl. It’s just as beautiful as the picture and I’ve enjoyed bringing it out for special occasions.
7. Toilet Tank Lever
Surely I can’t be the only one that thinks that companies could do so much better than the levers that they put on toilets! When I heard that you could easily replace them with custom levers I hopped on to find ones for all of our toilets. It’s a cheap update that I wish I would have discovered a long time ago.
8. Coffee Pod Drawer
Add another thing to the “I wish I had gotten this sooner list!” We usually fill up a reusable pod with grounds, but when we have guests the pods are way more convenient. Having them neatly in reach inside this drawer makes it even easier for guests (or me when I’m in a rush) to grab.
9. Clear Turntables
When I was doing the pantry cabinet organization I knew that these clear turntables would be perfect for keeping various bottles of things that have a tendency to get out of control. I later realized that they work great for canned food as well!
10. Oil Bottle Dispensers
Another great find for our pantry cabinets were these oil bottle dispensers. They look much nicer than having all of the random ones and I love how easily they pour.
11. Egg Drawer
I was so inspired by how the pantry cabinets turned out that I decided to do a little bit of organizing in our fridge as well. This egg drawer is better than the other containers that I’ve seen since the drawer actually pulls out and makes it easy to grab eggs.
12. Round Fluffy Rug
I decided to make a little play space for the boys in our unfinished basement and a nice fluffy rug was a must. This gray tie dye one was crazy cheap and is sooooo soft! It has memory foam padding underneath so it’s perfect for making a hard floor cozy. This picture was taken with the 4′ version, I actually decided to return it for a 6′ one which fills the space much better.
13. Rattan Pendant Light Covers
The fun didn’t stop in that corner of our basement, I decided to give the whole space a nice refresh. One thing that bothered me were the naked lightbulbs and these rattan pendant light covers were an easy fix for those.
14. Unstuffed Leather Pouf
I wanted some poufs for extra seating in the basement but as you probably already know–those can be pricey! When I spotted this unstuffed leather pouf I was intrigued. You simply fill them up with old clothes, towels and blankets and are left with a really nice pouf for a fraction of the cost.
15. Pipe Shelving
Since we already had studs along one wall in the basement, I decided to attach some boards to it to make it look more like a real wall. Once it was finished, I knew that some pipe shelving would look awesome on either side of the TV to go with the industrial vibe we have going down on. They were super easy to attach to the studs and look great.
16. Magic Lightbulb
Okay, this is one of the coolest things that I’ve seen in a long time. I have a table in the basement that I wanted a lamp on, however there is no outlet in that corner. So I got one of these magic lightbulbs and was so impressed! It truly does give off as much light as a normal bulb, and to charge it you simply put it into a regular lamp for a day.
17. Wall Tapestry
I have curtains hanging up behind the couch in the basement to hide the storage under the stairs as a temporary fix. I wanted to add a little more interest with this pretty wall tapestry. It was super affordable and makes that area look so much better.
18. Retro Style Desk
When I was designing Lucas’ room makeover this year I thought that I had found the perfect desk, only to be disappointed to find out that it was out of stock. It was just as well since I found this retro desk instead! We love the extra shelf on top that is great for holding all of his art utensils.
19. Large Wall Sconce
I wanted a big light for his room since I only had space to add one as opposed to the two that I wanted originally, and this one fit the bill perfectly! Instead of hardwiring it, we simply routed the cord behind the wall and drilled a hole to feed it out and to the outlet.
20. Black Silverware Set
We host all of the holidays at our house and since we were short on silverware I usually just set out a mix of salad and dinner forks, totally not ideal! I decided that it was time for us to have a real set and when I found this 60 piece black mirrored set I was so happy. The quality is surprising given the price and they have held up fantastically so far.
As you can see, good old Amazon really came through for us in 2022 haha! I hope you all have a safe and happy New Years and I’ll catch up with you in 2023 🙂
