Happy Tuesday everyone! It’s hard to believe that we are basically already half way through summer, and I’m pretty sad about it. We have our annual camping trip this weekend and I always feel like the rest of summer flies by way too quickly afterwards.
Today I am sharing a fun makeover that I gave to an old drab laminate dresser last fall.

When I spotted this on Marketplace I had such a good feeling about it being made out of wood…
However when Anthony got it home I was disappointed to find out that it was one hundred percent laminate and MDF. But that wasn’t going to stop me from giving it a new life!
After deep cleaning, I went over everything with my orbital to prep it for paint. You should always go gentle on laminate surfaces and try not to break through the laminate and expose the MDF. I went a little too rough in some spots and had to repair those areas with spackle later on.
I applied a coat of clear shellac primer and once that was dry I started adding the paint.
I built a wood base to elevate it (literally and in an appearance sense) and stained it a warm brown.
I sealed it all up with a couple coats of polyacylic, attached some new knobs and here is how it turned out!
The moody color, the wood base and the pretty knobs all worked together to make this dresser look so elegant.
She was quick to find a new home!
