- One Room Challenge (Week 6): Slow Progress
Progress is still somewhat slow moving as we start scrambling to get last minute things like wall lights and curtains up. And as if I wasn’t already slightly worried about time, we decided to add on a last minute project!
We had planned on installing a header board to hang the doors from, but one night Anthony was laying in bed and had another idea. He mentioned the idea of adding shiplap which would not only eliminate the need for a header board, but I started envisioning how pretty it would look!
I ordered these shiplap boards from Lowes for store pickup and Sunday afternoon we began installing the difficult to cut boards along the top.
When I say “we” I obviously mean Anthony haha! His precision and patience is always better than mine so I let him take full reign in these situations when possible!
The next day I continued installing the boards along the sides and the middle which were much easier since the only jigsaw cuts were around the outlets.
Once they were installed I spackled and sanded the nail holes, caulked the edges and let it dry overnight. The next day I taped off the surrounding areas to prep for paint. I used pre-taped plastic which makes the process a breeze.
I used my sprayer to apply two coats of Wheat Bread by Behr.
I am so happy with how it turned out!
Now all we need are the doors to be hung and this wall will look complete!
The candle sconces that I ordered arrived but I was disappointed to see how bright the gold was.
I grabbed my can of warm champagne gold spray paint and set out to fix that!
They turned out absolutely gorgeous and I’ll wait until next week to show you! See you all then!
