Now that we are officially in the second week of April, I figured that it would be a good time to finally share a spring home tour with you guys, don’t you think?
Just like at Christmas, I debated whether or not I wanted to do a tour at all this year since there are so many unfinished projects laying around. However I know that when I peek back at these later on it will be so much fun to see the changes. So I temporarily ignored the imperfections, picked up the camera and went around to snap a few quick photos to show you how I decorated our new fixer upper for spring.
Come on in!
I struggled a little bit with our entry space. I currently have the mirror hung high because I plan to install board and batten, but until that happens it leaves it as kind of an awkward area to style.
After a lot of trial and error, I finally ended up with this look and am happy with how cheerful and colorful it is.
Since our front room receives a lot of natural light from the bay window, I decided to use a lot of bright greenery.
If you’ve followed me in previous years, you may notice an egg theme around here. I love to decorate with as many eggs as I can get away with! I have fond childhood memories of decorating eggs and having egg hunts with my family, so I can’t help but incorporate them as much as possible in our home during the spring.
And bunnies! You can also never have too many bunnies in my book.
For the corner table next to the stairs, I designed a printable to put in a frame and I am pretty impressed with how cute it turned it turned out.
In the kitchen, I packed away the hot cocoa bar that we had on the island and I styled the tray with a few whimsical springtime items.
In the dining area I kept the same simple tablescape that we had last year at the old house.
Partly because I loved it so much, but honestly I was much too lazy to change it up this year.
I had a lot of fun styling the top of our toy storage dresser. Try to look past the fact that the large piece in the back isn’t centered–I totally just noticed that.
The faux white lavender plant is my new favorite thing and I probably could have bought at least 3 more of them if I knew where to put them!
Last but not least, let’s swing back to the living room which is where we spend the majority of our time watching Peppa Pig re-runs or playing board games.
The coffee table tray typically isn’t this organized, usually there are action figures or plastic animals sticking their heads out of every direction and the coasters are usually missing. #lifewithtwolittles 🙂
For the card catalog dresser, I popped some spring greenery in mason jars and set them inside my large DIY planter that has gotten a lot of use since I made it years ago.
I know that sconces are typically for candles, but I like how these little cement planters look on them so much more.
Oh–the fireplace recently got a small update! I finally popped off the brass trim pieces. I still plan on limewashing the brick and rebuilding the mantle, but this tiny change has made me so happy that I just had to mention it.
My thrifted magazine holder turned flower market basket found it’s place on the hearth and it looks so pretty below the garland and eggs that I have on the mantle.
And finally, the DIY spring pillow that I made and
farm fresh eggs pillow coordinate nicely with my updated brass lamp in the corner.
Thanks for joining me on the tour today! I have been hard at work on our master bathroom refresh for the One Room Challenge and will share my progress/mishaps with you guys on Thursday. See you all then!
