Hey guys! Hope you all had a nice long Labor Day weekend. Here in Colorado it was hot, hot, hot all weekend long, and then a cold front rolled in Monday night and the temps dropped from 90 to the 30s! We got a few inches of snow and I told Anthony that I felt like we went into a time machine and and went straight to winter.
Luckily today the sun is back out and by the weekend we should be back in the 80s which I’m really happy about. If your from Colorado you know the phrase, “Don’t like the weather? Wait 5 minutes it will change!”
So last week I started decorating for fall and even though I already have quite a stash going, I decided to pop over to the fall decor aisle at Hobby Lobby while I was there picking up a new doormat. Of course I found a few new things that I couldn’t live without, but I also picked up some items to make a new wreath for the front door.
Supplies Used:(Affiliate links may be provided for convenience. For more info, see my full disclosure here.)
- Wire Pumpkin Wreath (sold out online so check in store, but I see they sell a 2 pack on Amazon)
- Jute Twine
- Buffalo Check Bow (also sold out online but on Amazon)
- Galvanized Welcome Sign (similar)
- Wood Leaves (similar)
- Hot Glue Gun
I began by tying a piece of jute on to the wreath form.
I then started wrapping it tightly around the stem and kept working my way all around the edge of the pumpkin.
I found that anything longer than two feet was difficult to maneuver, so once I got to the end of a piece I would tie it to the next one. Just keep the knots in the back and you won’t even be able to tell that they are there!
The outside portion actually went very quickly and within a few minutes I had this.
I then started on the inside pieces by tying a knot at the top to start and then knotting it off at the bottom.
Those took a little longer, but in total I was done with the whole thing in about 30 minutes. Now it was time to add the embellishments! I tied the bow and the leaves at the top and twisted the wires in the back to secure them.
And finally, I hot glued the galvanized welcome sign by pressing it on to the front. Once it was dry I flipped it over and added a little bit more glue to ensure that it really stuck!
Here is how it turned out!
It’s so cozy and neutral and I love that it’s different from a traditional wreath.
I actually hung it up on the outside of the front door, however since it has been snowing and didn’t look very fall like out there I hung it up inside to take these pictures!
I originally was going to add a few more leaves, but I ended up loving the simplicity.
It was so simple and fun to make!
I am so happy you could join me today! I hope you have an excellent weekend 🙂
Linking up to these awesome parties!
