Hey there, welcome to the first week of the Fall 2022 One Room Challenge! This season is going to be such a blast and I am so excited to get started!
Lucas has been waiting very patiently for a room makeover ever since his brother got one in the Spring 2021 season. I had originally planned on doing his room this past spring, but due to budget issues it got postponed. We are finally ready to get rolling in here and I look forward to sharing the steps of this wild ride with you guys over the next 8 weeks!
His room is currently decked out with a woodland theme and has been since he was two years old.
Okay, let’s be real here–this is a very cleaned up view of his room haha! It is actually is overflowing with odds and ends since we lack a good organizational system in here! Here is a current day look at the rest of the room…
As you can see, I never even finished the door trim on the inside. So yea….this room needs some help for sure!
Although he still loves animals, he is ready for an “older big boy room” and we have been brainstorming superhero ideas for quite some time. Here is the mood board that I have come up to put all of my ideas together.
bed | hammock chair | bedding | bean bag chair | posters | lights | rug | desk | pillows | lamp | hamper
The first step is to install a faux brick wall just as I did along the back wall in Tristan’s room (tutorial here).
Next, it’s time for a new bed! He has been jealous of Tristan’s bunk bed setup, but I also worry that he’s still a little young to have such a high bed to monkey around on, so this one seems like the perfect compromise.
He loves the idea that it has a slide (obviously) and a space to play underneath, and I love that it’s not as high as a standard bunk bed. I also want to get him a desk and this one not only goes with the design but is the perfect size for my little guy.
He is having a hard time with the idea of taking his nursery glider out even though it’s broken, so we finally decided that a cool hammock chair in its place would be a fair trade off!
Once all of the big items are in place it will be time for the real fun to begin–decor! He has already chosen this fun bedding.
I plan to do some superhero posters and fun items as I find them. I also thought that this rug fit the vibe well in both design and color.
I plan to get started on the brick wall this weekend and will have an update for you guys next week–stay tuned!
