Happy Fall everyone! It’s officially starting to get pretty chilly here in the morning and the leaves are slowly starting to change so I guess whether we like it or not—it’s here!
Today’s flip strayed a bit from my original vision, but in the end I absolutely adored how it turned out!

I found this large dresser on Marketplace and was hopeful that it was made out of solid wood. My original vision was to do a natural wood top and top drawers, while painting the rest.
I started by removing all of the hardware and the gave it a good clean, both inside and out.
I then began sanding…only to find a super thin veneer that was too difficult to save!
I went ahead and moved on to plan B. I scuff sanded all of the surfaces, then filled the existing hardware holes with Bondo since I decided to do single knobs.
I did sand down the faces of the jewelry drawers and taped them off for a cute little surprise that you will see later on.
I wiped everything down before spraying on the first coat of paint.
Dixie Bell paint has a built in primer, however this type of wood had some serious wood tanin bleed through, so I had to go over those spots with my trusted stain blocking primer before applying the final coat.
I sealed it all up with some poly, added new knobs and here is how she turned out!
As you can see the cute little surprise was the pop of scalloped wood on the jewelry drawers. I used a special scalloped tape that unfortunately is no longer sold, but to recreate this you could trace it and cut it out on regular painters tape.
I decided to do some light distressing on the edges for a little extra character.
I am so happy with how this one turned out!
