Hello everyone and happy July!! The month of June was absolutely crazy for us and it seemed like it flew by at rapid speed. I’m really hoping that July slows down a little bit!
So I received my July box from Simply Earth and am super excited to announce that the theme for this month is all about…kids!
Essential oils are powerful so they have to be used carefully around kids under 10. Since we have two little kiddos running around in our house, I’ve done some research on which ones to avoid and which ones are considered safe.
I was so stoked to receive these 4 kid-friendly full sized essential oils!
- Tangerine is a happy, uplifting oil that is great at fighting mental fatigue, relieving stress and helping the body detox and digest.
- Fir Needle is known to relieve coughing, fight fatigue/pain and has awesome airborne deodorizing qualities.
- Lavender is probably the most popular oil of all and has a ton of uses that range from stress and pain relief, skin healing, deodorizing and relaxation.
- Sweet Dreams Blend is composed of Cederwood, Marjoram, Frankincense, Lavender and German Chamomile and is designed calm your child before bedtime.
The recipe cards that they included were all centered around enhancing wellness and were perfect for kids. I cannot wait to share them with you guys today!
Sweet Dreams Roll On
You guys, this recipe is getting A LOT of use at our house. It’s the Sweet Dreams blend diluted with coconut oil in a roll on bottle and it smells absolutely amazing!
Usually at bedtime they are super fired up and ready to run a full marathon–anyone else’s kids the same?! Rolling a little bit of this on their pulse points as we tuck them in has been a nice way to settle them down.
Sweet Dreams Bath
This recipe provides another way to use the Sweet Dreams blend by mixing it up in some epsom salts to add to their bath. Just remember to keep them in a place they can’t reach since epsom salts can look an awful lot like candy.
I think I may try some in my own bath after a really long hard day!
DIY Scented Stress Ball
This one was by far the boys’ favorite! When I first saw the balloon that came in this box I Was confused. But the second that I realized it was for this recipe I knew the boys were going to love this making this one!
They had so much fun shaking the oils up with the flour in the water bottle and even more fun helping me squeeze it in to the balloon.
Lavender Scented Bubbles
One of the boys’ all time favorite outdoor activity is blowing bubbles so I was super excited to see this recipe in there!
We have a lot spills when we’re playing with bubbles outside, so we tend go through quite a lot! I like the idea of making our own because we can whip up a new batch whenever we need to. The corn syrup makes them nice and thick so it’s easy for them to blow bubbles with. And the fact that they smell like lavender is icing on the cake!
Homework Diffuser Blend
School may be out for summer, but I’m still trying to keep Tristan up to date with his reading and writing skills so I was happy to see this one.
The uplifting and fatigue fighting qualities in the tangerine and the fir needle oils help little ones focus.
It’s important to remember that kiddos under 10 actually breath more often than adults so they are more likely to become sensitive to oils. They only need a teeny bit of exposure (15 minutes or less) to get their benefits.
Natural Slime
And finally, slime. While it’s super gross to most adults, it’s an all time favorite to kids! The boys love to play with this stuff so they were beyond excited that they got to try making their own.
I would have loved to show you a picture, but we failed to add food coloring to our batch so it didn’t turn out too athletically pleasing! The next batch for sure will have some color added!!
As I mentioned previously, Simply Earth actually partners with various organizations (see some here) and chooses one each month to donate 13% of their monthly profits to. This month they are supporting A21 (specifically the Netherland’s office) to help put an end to human trafficking. What an amazing company!
