One Room Challenge (Week 3): Vertical Shiplap

October 22, 2020

It’s officially the half way point of the One Room Challenge! In case you missed any of the previous posts in this challenge you can catch them all here:

  • One Room Challenge (Week 1): Neutral Kids Bathroom Plans
  • One Room Challenge (Week 2): New Tile

This past weekend I took a trip to Lowes to get all of the supplies for the shiplap. I decided to start on the large wall at the back since it doesn’t involve any funky cuts around plumbing connections like the other one.

I measured and marked 4′ from the floor since that height works perfectly with the electrical outlets. Using a level I drew a line all the way across.

I purchased 8′ shiplap boards and cut them in to 4′ pieces. Since I’m going vertical and can’t hit studs I applied a squiggle of Liquid Nails to the back and then used my air nailer to hold them to the wall, making sure that each board lined up with the line that I drew.

Due to the room being slightly off, I noticed that I had to attach a few slightly off from the floor to make sure they reached the line.

I had a cute little assistant to help me!

First wall is nearly done, I just need to add a piece of 1×4 MDF to the top.

We have been out of town on a little getaway since Sunday, but as soon as we are back I will get the other wall done and then we can start installing the new vanity!

If I’m a being honest I feel like I should probably be a little bit further along at this point, but that’s ok–I usually thrive under the pressure at the end haha!
