Hello friends and happy Tuesday. I hope you all had a nice weekend. On Saturday we threw a small birthday party for Lucas which was lot of fun, but as usual left me feeling soooo wiped out. I spent Sunday doing a whole lot of nothing and it honestly felt nice to relax a bit!
Today I wanted to share a little winter home tour with you guys. Each year after the Christmas decor comes down the house is left feeling like a blank slate. In order to keep things feeling cheerful until spring rolls around, I like to leave a few things out. I find that things like greenery, branches and pinecones that are used for Christmas decor can double as winter decor and make the house feel super cozy during January and February.
Without further ado, let’s go through my process for the transition from Christmas to winter.
I leave all of my wreaths up since they are very neutral and I like to enjoy them for a bit longer.
The entry table usually doesn’t change much from how I style it for Christmas, I simply go through and remove the red accents. I also like to add items with hearts like my DIY Valentines art.
Greenery and wood elements remind me of being inside a winter cabin so I try to place them wherever I can.
With the big tree no longer in the bay window, I moved the bench back in its place. Nothing quite says cozy like throw blankets and pillows, so I set my sweater heart pillow on it and tossed a wintery throw blanket inside a basket next to it.
I also kept some things out on the tables in here.
For the coffee table I popped a mini tree and some candles inside a tray.
By the way, Christmas clearance is a great place to pick up winter decor. I found the tree bark candle holder a few years ago from the Homegoods clearance aisle.
My Dad’s tree is still thriving on this side table and I decided to add a candle that reminds me of him and a small heart next to it.
I also like to string silver heart ornaments over the mirror each year for a little Valentine’s day flair.
Okay, next let’s hop over to the corner next to the stairs.
Sliced tree stumps act great as a riser or tray to set things on top of.
I put another one on the side wall table underneath the lamp.
This table is actually my favorite spot that I styled which is funny because I kept getting stuck when I was trying to put it all together.
Swinging in to the living room now…
Again, lots of throw blankets and pillows keep this space feeling warm and cozy. I especially love bringing out my big heart pillows that I made several years ago
I set them on different seating areas and then stuff a few inside baskets.
Inside the coffee table tray I set up a couple of mini trees, a candle and a small bin of birch logs.
The fireplace always looks so bare after the stockings and Christmas garland come down. I almost left the garland up this year, but decided to opt for smaller picks with a few pinecones sprinkled in.
The wood heart garland that I hang on the mantle every year has my favorite excerpts from Romeo and Juliet.
The side wall looks very similar to how I had it for Christmas. I simply recovered the mini trees on the sconces with a more neutral striped fabric and put lanterns on either side of the planter.
This room is our main hang out and we spend hours during these months cuddled up under blankets and watching movies so it’s probably the most important space to make cozy!
I left the dining room table simple just as I had it for Christmas.
I only replaced the red striped runner with something more neutral and took the bells out from the dough bowl.
And finally, let’s peek in to the kitchen.
I always leave the hot cocoa station out since we still like to enjoy it on cold snowy days.
I just replace the Christmas sprinkles with chocolate ones and pop a heart tea towel underneath to make it more neutral.
On the end of the kitchen counter I set up my oil diffuser on top of a mini sled and then filled a tiered tray with some greenery and this cute heart birdhouse.
And there you have it, that’s how I created our cozy winter home! I am so happy that you could swing by today and I hope I could help inspire you with some ideas to create a nice winter vibe in your own home.

Hi Angela,
Your house is charming and so cute. Love it. You did a very nice job of making everything looks
so nice and cozy. Also love the look of those beautiful mirrors on each side of your fireplace,
great idea.
