Happy Friday my beautiful friends! This past week has been a very productive week in the playroom makeover! In case you’ve missed any of the previous weekly updates along the way you can catch them all here:
I left off last week showing you guys the hardboard that I installed for the board and batten. I mentioned that I wasn’t sure if I was going to finish it since the safety cover on the saw broke, but after some coaching from the hubby and being extra careful I was able to muster the courage to get all of the boards cut and attached!
I haven’t gotten a picture of it all painted but trust me, it looks so good!
The alphabet wall art arrived and I was so shocked to see how big it is! It just barely fits over the board and batten and I’m still debating whether or not I want to keep the string or take it off and just attach it with screws through the wood.
On Saturday I took the table out to start sanding the top down. I had ordered this cute unfinished table a couple of years ago but never got around to finishing it. As you can see, the boys had done a quite a number on it.
The hubby was nice enough to take over and sand and I didn’t argue! While he was doing that the boys helped me unscrew the tops from the chairs.
Aww they look so grown up, don’t they?!
I taped off the table top and then grabbed my trusty paint sprayer and got to work!
I ordered Majic Diamond Hard paint in satin black and I must say, I was so impressed with the quality of this stuff! It went on so beautifully and so far it really does seem very durable which is a major plus in a playroom!
I am obsessed with how they turned out and I can’t wait to share them with you guys in the final reveal. I loved the look so much that I decided to give a matching look to this little bench.
It took a little bit of work but I was able to sand all of the stain off of the top and then I set it aside and painted the rest of the bench.
The fun didn’t stop there…I also gave a more neutral look to the little marketplace by replacing the awning, painting the labels and the bins.
The letters for the alphabet wall also arrived this week. When I had this idea in my head years ago, I had originally had planned on shopping around and collecting a bunch of letters in different materials and styles. With that obviously not being possible at this time, I was happy to stumble upon this unfinished letter set on Etsy.
I love the various fonts and sizes. I think my original idea may have been fun, but it also could have been a little chaotic and this will be a much more cohesive look.
I played around with different paints and stains and I’m really excited to see how they look up on the wall.
I also busted out my sewing machine and fixed the teepee. It was actually a lot more ripped than I thought it was, but after fighting with it for a bit I was able to sort of fix it. Just don’t look too close at the messing stitching haha!
And finally, we caved and got them a new T.V. You may recall me telling you that since Tristan broke the old one we weren’t going to be replacing it.
Well we decided that it really is nice for them to have their own T.V. to play games and Netflix, so we found this one for a really great price. And yes—there’s already been a stern talk about not touching this one!
The wire storage cubes that I ordered hide the Switch dock and the fun alphabet bins are the perfect spot to store various chargers, cords and games.
I am so happy with how it’s all come together so far and I have to admit, having this room makeover to keep me busy has been a real sanity saver for me during this quarantine!
I’ll be back next week to share a few more final details and then hopefully I will be ready to share the big reveal the week after that! Stay safe and healthy everyone 🙂
