Hello everyone—I hope your week has been going well! For me it’s been nice to start getting back in to the swing of our normal routine. I am excited to get some more furniture done and hopefully the coat closet tackled later this month. I took a small break last week to work on Lucas’ birthday party and it turned out so cute! I’m popping in quickly today to share the details on how I transformed our home in to a mini Legoland for my sweet boy.
Let’s start with the decor! I grabbed a couple of plastic tablecloths and paper plates from the party section at Walmart and taped them to the doors to make them look like giant Legos.
I took down my regular decor from the entry console table and filled it with the party favors.
I found that this was the perfect spot for them so that guests were able to easily grab one as they left. For the adults we made Lego brick candy bars (Etsy template). I used plain paper but you could also print them on these.
For the kiddos we used these colorful Lego boxes and attached a tag (Etsy template).
We filled them up with some of the Lego brick candy bars, a mini Lego animal set, a Lego lollipop and a Lego notebook.
The giant gray Lego is actually a storage box that has come in super handy over the years!
Since I failed to add balloon weights to my order, I created some last minute ones using mason jars filled with Legos.
We extended our dining table to create a Lego building station for Lucas and his friends.
The ceiling decorations and tablecloth came inside this party pack and made the space feel so fun!
This large creator box not only came with plenty of Legos to play with, it also made a really cute centerpiece!
More balloons completed the space!
Much to my surprise there was actually little interest in sitting down to build because Lucas was more excited to show his friends his room and play with toys. Thankfully I had a couple of more structured activities planned which I’ll get to in a minute!
I decided to go the more simple route for food and just ordered a few pizzas, but I did make a couple of cute themed snacks for the island.
I made some Lego Rice Crispies (good tutorial here) which were a little bit of work but very delicious!
Anthony cut up some cantaloupe and watermelon to resemble Lego bricks.
And finally, I cut up some cheese to resemble Legos and served them with crackers that are of course—rectangles!
It was just the right mixture for snacking and looked so cute put together. I had some left over favor boxes so I cut them up and strung them together to make a little banner to add to the front of the island.
I mixed up some orange juice, lemonade and ginger ale to make the perfect shade of yellow for minifigure head punch.
I simply cut out the face and used clear tape to attach it to our drink dispenser. All of the food and drink labels can be found on this Etsy template.
When I asked Lucas about what kind of cake he wanted he said that he wanted it to look like minfigures were building it. I think I did a pretty good job meeting that requirement!
I ordered a basic cake from Walmart then added the cute topper (linked here), minifigures and a Lego creation in the corner. Don’t worry—I washed everything well first!
We served pizza and handed each kiddo a minifigure chip bag which I made by cutting out parts from my template and taping on a bag of Doritos. This pack was a great deal and we are stocked for awhile with the leftovers!
We also handed each kiddo a Lego brick juice box (Etsy template)
It all came together so cute and Lucas loved it all! (Birthday banner linked here)
Remember how I said that the kids showed little interest in the building station since they were too occupied playing with Lucas throughout the house? With Tristan’s help we wrangeld everyone together to play a game of pin the tail on the Lego dinosaur.
The kit came with nice satin blindfolds and tails that were numbered. The kids really had fun playing this game!
From there we moved them over to the table to eat and while we had them sitting we played minifigure Bingo using this printable which was a big hit! Finally we headed down to the basement for the piñata which was everyone’s favorite activity!
I wish I would have grabbed a picture of the Lego shaped piñata because it was super cute and since we used the stick that it came with, each kid was able to get at least three hits before we let Lucas use a real bat to finish it.
The birthday boy had an absolute blast and so many fun memories were made!
