This past week my goal was to get the board and batten installed and I am happy to announce that I competed it about an hour ago!
On Monday I started by nailing up the boards which is just 1/8” hardboard. I also added a coat of primer and one coat of paint.
Tuesday I added two more coats of paint (that dang brown is so hard to cover!) and I also measured, cut and nailed up all the battens.
Today I finished it up by filling the nail holes, sanding, caulking and painting the battens I am absolutely blown away with how good it looks.
It really fills that long wall out nicely and now I’m debating if I want to do something different with the space above or leave it as is…decisions decisions! It also filled in the sidewall nicely and I’m not sure if I want to put the picture ledges back up or put something different there.
All of the wall treatments and moldings are about 90% complete. I still need to finish painting the shiplap in the window nook. And yes I plan to get those mirrors hung back up!
Ok now let’s talk shopping. Last week I mentioned that I finally pulled the trigger on our new sectional. I knew it was going to be cutting close on whether or not it would be here in time for the reveal, but this week I got an email telling me that the fabric is out of stock and won’t be back for another 2-3 weeks so it most definitely will not be here in time. Whomp whomp..
I considered going a different route but I decided that I really love everything about this one so I’m going to be patient and wait it out.
I purchased these curtains from World Market because I fell in love with them when I spotted them. My original design plan didn’t even include curtains, but these gave me the idea to put them in.
However when I got them home I wasn’t sure if the stripes would clash with the shiplap. So now I’m leaning towards doing canvas dropcloth curtains just like I did in the dining room area.
I have been going back-and-forth on what to do about the coffee table—should refinish one or build a new one? Then I remembered seeing unfinished ones on Amazon and knew that it would be the perfect option because I could get it exactly like I wanted for a good price.
I chose this one because I like the large size and chunky legs.
I will probably do a weathered wood look on it and I cannot wait for it to arrive so that I can get started on it.
I ordered these lights to put above the mirrors and am going to use battery operated puck lights temporarily until we decide if we want to hire out to have them hardwired.
I think they are going to look really nice and will provide us with some nice soft lighting along that wall.
I’ve ordered a couple of pillow covers, they haven’t arrived yet but I’m excited to see what they look like in person.
There are a couple of other ones that I’ve been eyeing so I may have more coming! The nice thing about Amazon pillow covers is that they are really affordable and usually fantastic quality.
This upcoming week my goal is to get the new fireplace mantle built and also narrow down my multiple rug choices haha! This one is my top contender. It’s so pretty and it’s washable which is an absolute must for us!
Have a great week everyone, I’ll see you back here next week!

I love how your wall turned out! I will definitely on the hunt for a wall in my house to attempt it.
