Well it’s official, this is the last progress post before the big reveal next week! In case you missed any of the other posts in this series you can catch them all here:

- One Room Challenge (Week 2): New Tile
- One Room Challenge (Week 3): Vertical Shiplap
- One Room Challenge (Week 4): Painting and Building the Vanity
I find it funny that even though I didn’t have a ton of DIY projects for this space, I’m still finding myself scrambling during the last week haha!
One thing that I have been putting off was painting the shower. Of course if I had an unlimited budget I would be ripping out the tile and old fixtures and replacing them, but since that isn’t the case I needed to update them both for inexpensive as possible!
During the spring ORC challenge when I tackled our master bathroom I used Grout Renew to paint the painted the old yellowed grout a nice pretty gray. It made the tile look brand new and so much more modern.
It has held up fantastically over the past year and a half so I decided to do the same in here. Look at what a difference it makes!
You can read all about the process in this post, but it’s actually very easy to do –once you learn that it needs to be wiped off the tile almost immediately! I threw on some comfy clothes and good music and knocked the whole thing out in a couple hours.
For the chrome fixtures, I removed what I could and taped off what I couldn’t and am in the process of painting them matte black.
I’m following the same process that I used when I painted our master bathroom shower and tub fixtures.
You can read about my process in this post. It saves so much money and hassle as opposed to having a new trim kit installed! It’s turning out beautifully and I can’t wait to show you guys how it turns out next week.
In other news, we got the new vanity light installed! After weeks of searching I finally decided on this pretty matte black industrial light and I couldn’t be happier with how it looks in here.
Thanks to daylight savings time we ended up having to do the install in the dark with a flashlight haha. Since the new vanity is larger we needed to center it so we had to drill a new hole and fish the wires through it with a coat hanger.
We have still yet to get the plumbing on the vanity done, but that’s on the agenda for tonight.
After that’s done it’s time to add the finishing touches! I’ve ordered 4 sets of vanity mirrors–yes FOUR! I am suffering from major indecision and I’m hoping that once they all arrive I’ll be able to decide on one of them. I also am sewing my own extra long shower curtain and need to refinish the shelves that I ordered for above the toilet.
I am so excited to be this close to the finish line and I can’t wait to share the finished space with you guys next week!

It’s looking great! Daylight saving time is causing most of my pictures to be taken after dark. I haven’t gotten used to just how early it gets dark!
