Hello friends! I hope you were able to catch this year’s Christmas Home Tour that I shared earlier this week. Everything came together so beautifully and it’s truly amazing how far our fixer upper has come over the past few years.
Last week I ran across an old blog post that I shared where I compared our first Christmas in our old house to the last one that we had there. I was completely stunned at the difference that we made in that home (as well as my much improved photography haha)!
Anyways it got me thinking about doing a similar post about this new fixer upper and once again I was shocked when I pulled up the photos from our first Christmas home tour here!
For starters, check out how far the front room has come.
The biggest difference is the painted door and new trim, board and batten and finished steps. I also sanded and stained the banister and added some chunky corbels.
The kitchen has come quite a long way as well.
I didn’t get a shot from the exact same angle, but you can see that the kitchen looks much different thanks to the budget DIY kitchen remodel that we did in which we painted the cabinets, installed a backsplash and built a range hood cover. And from this view you can get a peek of how much the living room has changed as well.
The living room received a full makeover for this past season of the One Room Challenge and looks quite different than it did 3 years ago.
In addition to receiving wall treatments, I also applied a German Schmear wash to the fireplace brick and we built a new mantle.
The Santa tree still stands, although I replaced the tree itself with this new flocked one.
The side wall used to house this dresser that we typically just filled up with junk. No matter how often I cleaned it out, it would fill right back up! During the room makeover I decided to take it away and replace it with chairs and a small table.
We don’t miss the dresser being there one bit and it’s been nice to have extra seating in here.
