It’s almost 2022 and I can hardly believe how fast this year has flown by! When I look back at the last twelve months I am blown away with how many truly amazing memories we have made. I actually stopped to think about how many “firsts” we had this year and it’s pretty shocking.
We started the year off by getting our first family cat–Duchess Lucia.
Shortly after the boys finally got to experience their first blizzard.
In the summer I purchased my very own car for the first time in my life. Now THAT felt like a real accomplishment haha.
We took our first big family vacation to California where the boys got to ride on a plane for the first time and see the ocean for the first time as well.
And in the fall the boys even started Tae Kwon Do!
Whew what a year!! We also somehow managed to accomplish quite a bit on our house between all of that.
Each year I like to finish off the year here by sharing the top ten viewed blog posts. It’s always sort of surprising to see what were and were not the favorites around here.
Ok let’s get right to it! (click on the title to take you to the post)
10. Curbside Coffee Table Makeover
Being a part of the Thrift Store Challenge Upcycle group has encouraged me to finish projects that I would probably normally leave sitting around for much longer haha. I found this coffee table on the curb and gave it a makeover for one of the challenges.
When I finished it I wasn’t sure if I was going to keep it or not since I worried that it may be too big for the front room, but it turned out that we loved having a bigger table in here to play on so it’s still in that room today.
9. New DIY End of Bed Bench
Over the summer I got the itch to give our bedroom a little refresh. It started with painting the walls and then led to so many other things (if you give a mouse a cookie…). One of the things that I decided to change was the bench at the end of the bed. I was craving more wood tones in here so I built a new one.
I followed the same building plans as before, but this time I left it un-upholstered and used wood stain rather than paint. It compliments the other wood elements in here so nicely.
8. 3 Year Home Anniversary
It’s crazy to think that we have already been in our home for three years. It’s come soooo far from the very beginning!
Each year I like to share a home anniversary post because it’s always fun to take a peek back at the photos from when we first moved in and compare them to the most recent ones.
7. DIY Under Bed Rolling Storage Boxes
When I worked on Tristan’s room makeover I knew that I wanted some type of storage system under his bed. I looked at a few options online but they all seemed pricey and also didn’t fit quite right. So I made my own!
Not only do they work well by sliding out on caster wheels, they also look pretty cool too.
6. Thrift Store To Pottery Barn Style
The baking soda and paint trend really blew up this year. I decided to try it out to see what all the fuss was about and I was so impressed with the results!
It made my thrifted vases look like they came right from Pottery Barn and it was so simple (and cheap!) to do.
5. Easy Dollar Store Crafts for Spring
I found some cool stuff at the dollar store during the spring and was able to make some fun crafts with them.
My favorite was this hanging welcome sign that I ended up hanging outside of our front door.
4. Lucas’ Dinosaur Themed Birthday Party
My big guy turned 5 at the beginning of this year and I had an absolute blast putting his dinosaur party together.
Everything turned out super cute, from the food to the decorations to the cake! He had such a fun time and still talks about that party.
3. DIY Faux Brick Accent Wall
My favorite feature in Tristan’s new room is the faux brick accent wall that I installed.
It was budget friendly and also very simple to do. It transformed the look of his whole room and I love it so much that I’m actually going to do the same thing in Lucas’ room this upcoming spring!
2. Pretty Organization under the Kitchen Sink
This year I got tired of rustling around all of the bottles under the kitchen sink anytime I needed something under there so I decided to give it a little makeover.
The new organization system makes things so much easier to grab and it’s pretty to look at now too.
1. Pretty Organization in the Laundry Room
And finally the number one post from this year was my post about pretty organization in the laundry room.
I used used glass canisters, amber spray bottles and baskets to tidy everything up. Everything we need is now easily in reach and it looks mighty nice too!
Well there you have it–your favorite posts from 2021! I am so happy to have each and every one of you here and am so thankful for all of your love and support. I can’t wait to take you along our adventures planned for 2022.
Have a fun and safe New Years Eve everyone, I’ll see you all next year 🙂
